4/3/2008 - Autauga Education Foundation to hold annual A+ Banquet featuring Coach Nick Saban

The Autauga Education Foundation announced last week at its monthly meeting that University of Alabama head football coach Nick Saban has agreed to be the guest speak­er at this year's A+ Banquet.

The 2008 banquet will be held May 21 at the Prattville High School gymnasium begin­ning at 7 p.m. The purchasers of the VIP tables will also attend a private reception with Saban at the Prattville Chamber of Com­merce from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Saban will begin his second season as the head coach at the Capstone after spending two seasons with the Miami Dol­phins. Prior to his two years in the National Football League, Saban was head coach at Louisi­ana State University where his team won a BCS national cham­pionship.

The annual A+ banquet is the primary fundraiser for the foundation. The funds generat­ed from the annual banquet are used by the foundation to pro­vide scholarships and other needs for students of all public schools in the county.

All funds raised will be pres­ented to the Autauga County Board of Education. The funds from the banquet are used to support the main goal of the foundation: promoting educa­tional excellence to public school students who otherwise would not have the opportunity.

One hundred percent of the funds are given to the Autauga County Public Schools through individual scholarships to stu­dents, faculty and volunteers for outstanding leadership and academics, as well as other aca­demic instruction, training and disciplines to equip students with skills and abilities to act locally and compete globally.

Auburn University Coach Tommy Tuberville was the guest speaker at the 2007 ban­quet, which raised $72,000 for the foundation's programs. Mike Shula, former University of Alabama head coach, was the 2006 speaker, which raised more than $70,000.

Sponsorship opportunities are currently available, which consists of award sponsorship, and VIP table and private recep­tion beginning at $2,500, which seats eight people. Other VIP ta­bles that include the private re­ception are available for $1,600. There are also regular tables be­ginning at $600.

Tickets can be purchased at the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce, Alabama Power Company, BankTrust and All South Corporation.
